HEAP Lab develops a Gamebook to contrast gender violence

Il Filo d’Arianna – Ariadne’s thread

Professor Giovanni Agosta is involved in a project aimed at contrasting gender violence by developing a concept for an educational video game. The goal of this video game, which will be developed with students of the Politecnico di Milano, is two-fold:

  • To experiment new ways to make teenagers aware of the stereotypes and prejudices, and to de-construct them;
  • To ask teenagers to reflect on the importance of respecting and listening to one another, and of showing empathy.

Il filo d’Arianna lasts one year and had its kick-off on Friday 16th of November, in Milan. The entire project is coordinated by SVS DAD ONLUS. Since 1997, this ONG has been supporting the Soccorso Violenza Sessuale e Domestica of the charity of IRCCS Cà Granda Ospedale Maggiore Policlinico, one of the major hospitals in Milan. In addition to Politecnico di Milano, the other partners are:

  • Caritas ambrosiana, a charity through which the dioceses of Milan can promote and coordinate initiatives for the welfare;
  • Soccorso Violenza Sessuale e Domestica of the charity of IRCCS Cà Granda Ospedale Maggiore Policlinico, which is a public antiviolence centre that helps people subject to all kinds of sexual or domestic violence;
  • ATS Città Metropolitana di Milano, which manages the health and social-health networks in the Lombardy region.

The project is sponsored by Regione Lombardia in the context of “Plan equality in Lombardia – 2018” and HEAP Lab is participating pro-bono.
